Loving Becca Stadtlander’s charming illustrations. They are lovely, and you can see more on her website and pick up some cards or prints in her little shop. Beautiful!

‘Little Doodles’ are the creations of London based illustrator Kate Wilson, and whether it be the clasp of a quirky handbag being sported by a fashionista on the streets to the perfect cupcake in a patisserie window, the little details that often pass people by play the biggest influence on her work.

You may not know the name, but you would know the amazing artist behind it. Shaun Tan is a Perth born, Melbourne residing artist and film maker, renowned for his children’s illustrations and incredible creative vision. Oh, and he’s won an Oscar (last year for the short animated film The Lost Thing), and was a concept artist for WALL-E. No biggie.

”Most of my time is spent writing and illustrating picture books, which have reached a broad readership in Australia and overseas, having been translated into several languages. While I describe them as ‘picture books’, they are not created with children in mind, but rather a general audience. I see each book as an experiment in visual and written narrative, part of an ongoing exploration of this fascinating literary form.”

I adore that things like this are being preserved and re-appreciated by a new generation!

This lovely, personal, nostalgic series is by an American artist/illustrator named Danielle Kroll. It certainly made me miss my grandparents adorable little bungalow, and has sent me on a hunt for as many photographs of their house as I can possibly find! I remember the smells, the sounds, and of course, where the Christmas tree went every single year.

San Francisco based artist, Alison Swearingen, is a trained marine biologist and science illustrator, hence these gorgeous paintings of birds on wood panel titled ‘Swarm’. I love them.

Today I ordered this box of notecards, not that I actually need any, but the fact that I’m head over heels in love with the illustrations that have been printed on recycled paper with soy based inks.

A page from a 1960’s biology book, apparently!

I’ve just come across the gorgeous work of collage artist, Hollie Chastain. Based in Tennessee USA, Hollie’s mixed media work uses vintage paper, paint pencil and old photos to create evocative and lovely images that have an indefinable sense of history.
